Stretch creams for bumps

Hi all,

My younger sister has just started to show her bump, has anyone used any of the stretch creams and are they any good? I would like to get her a little something for her little something.

Hi there Rubi,

Congratulations to your sister x

My sister Fi, gave birth to a beautiful baby girl yesterday, weighing in at 10lbs!! Me, personally, I’ve not got children (yet!!). But, I’d like to think I’d be well prepared for when I finally make my mind up in this area…

Hence (what with this at the back of my mind) I have been scouting out some really good products that I would love to use and so can recommend for those who are a little unsure about what to use at this time. I receive many emails from expectant mums concerning this subject, many mums to be are a little dubious about what kind of natural & organic skin care items they should choose from.

For me personally, if I ever became pregnant I know that I would definitely stick with natural and organic skin care, I would never go back to unnecessarily chemically laced products ever again!

The general rule is, if a product is unsuitable for pregnancy, it is usually highlighted on the actual product label (which we highlight on our site). In keeping with the theme, Earth Mama – Angel Mama products are ideal for mums to be and babies:

And in line with your query Rubi, here are some suggestions for your sister’s growing bump…Your sister will love using this body lotion – if not for it’s wonderful skin caring abilities, but for the smell alone! It is non-greasy too:

Earth Mama Angel Baby - Earth Mama Body Butter
Herbal Shea Butter Lotion for Expectant Bellies, Breasts and Way Beyond
Earth Mama Body Butter is a rich, emollient herbal shea butter body lotion with everything you love about Stretch Oil, except in a lotion. It starts working during your pregnancy to moisturize and encourage your skin's natural elasticity, and you'll feel so pampered you'll want to use it long after the birth of your angel baby.

And Earth Mama Body Butter won't aggravate morning sickness! You can trust Mama - Earth Mama Body Butter is safe for use during pregnancy: No artificial preservatives (NO parabens!), dyes or artificial fragrances.

Just pure non-toxic, certified vegan lotion for expectant bellies & breasts.

Full Ingredient Listing: Organic Aloe Juice (aloe barbadensis), Organic Olive Oil (Olea Europaea), Organic Rooibos Tea Extract (Aspalathus Lineans), Palm Stearic Acid, Organic Coconut Oil (Cocos Nucifera), Emulsifying Wax NF, Shea Butter (butyrospermum parkii), Kosher Vegetable Glycerin, Organic Palm Oil (Elaesis Guineesi), Proprietary Blend of pure essential oils including sweet orange, neroli and vanilla, Organic Jojoba Oil (simmondsia chinensis), Tocopherol, Xanthum Gum, Borage Oil, (Borago Officinalis), Organic Rosehip Seed Oil (Rosa Mosqueta), Carrot Oil (daucus carota), Rosemary Oleoresin (Rosemarinus Officinalis), Neem Oil (azadirachta indica) THESE INGREDIENTS ARE DATED OCTOBER 2007 – always check our site for the up to date ingredients listings: http://www.theremustbeabetterway.co.uk/ ... a1_21EM011

(Do let us know if you would like to see more from this range – please add your requests to this thread, thank you).

In fact, what your sister can also do, to spread this product further (as is expensive!) is to add a bit of Pure Health’s Unrefined Shea Butter, as the Shea Butter has a slight nutty aroma to it, so the Earth Mama Angel Baby – Earth Mama Body Butter will sweeten up the aroma. Pure Health Shea Butter can be found from this page:

Reviews received so far for the Pure Health Unrefined Shea Butter:

For other mums that want to stay away from essential oils during this time, you can find some good alternatives from our unscented range: http://www.theremustbeabetterway.co.uk/ ... ented.html

You need to keep your belly moisturizes all the time you could use regular lotion for now or even the original cocoa butter cream, and then once you start getting bigger use the pricier ones, also you need to drink lots of water for your skins elasticity and also eat healthy

Hi there Reinhold Qusay and welcome! :D

This is excellent advice regarding the cocoa butter, but I would certainly raise the question, why go for the pricey products? In some cases, if you know what you are looking for (ingredient wise) the cheapest can be full of the essential nourishment the skin needs... with my years of retailing, wonderful BASIC ingredients have nothing to do with the price - that is, in my experience. In most cases, the price label covers the extensive marketing costs... the cheaper brands don't heavily market their products, so can be obtained at cheaper prices.
All my best,
Angie

Hi guys,

Lots of my family relatives have these dilemma, though in our case they ignore it just until the baby is off their womb since they try to minimize activities that might compromise their body's balance, say too much stretching or unnecessary movements like application of skin products or probably styling agents may cramp up the baby or put the child on an uncomfortable state, less I think most pregnant mums would have their mind on their to be born child than their skin condition. :D

Nothing against the products specially those of Angie, since I think my aunt uses them just after she gave birth with my cousin. Plus I have read the articles on the links, definitely something to use and make do with .....

My point Use them after the child is born.....

It is unfortunate, but if you do wait until the baby is born, the stretch damage is done! The formation/collagen, below the skin is akin to how wood would form... it forms in one direction. If unfortunately you have an injury in the skin that contravenes the formation of the skin, the scar is more noticeable than it would be, if say the injury was in keeping with formation of how the underlying skin is formed. If you have stretch marks, do you notice how in one direction they are more noticeable, but not so much in another direction? This is why it is important to keep the skin flexible and resilient when it is being stretched... more scarring will be noticed in one direction than another...

Does this make sense? When I find an image of what I mean, I will attach it! This goes back to my anatomy skin analysis days...
All my best,
Angie
