Milk

Postby PureEnoughFluff on Sat Jan 26, 2008 1:19 am

I just thought I'd mention an interesting article I heard on the radio.
An eminent medical woman being interviewed had been researching into breast cancer, and had noticed that in China breast cancer was much less in evidence. She studied what the big differences were between the countries and one big difference is that they don't consume milk.
She then looked into milk and found that there are alot of estrogens in milk from the mother cow.
I thought that was really interesting.
I do eat / drink alot of milk and am cutting down now. Too much of anything isn't good anyway.
I tried sweetened soya milk and I love it and have that with cereal etc now. Not so good in hot drinks though!

Thanks for that PureEnoughFluff... makes for interesting reading...

I love milk :crying: But I do know, like you said, everything in moderation... I will try harder... why is it, we love stuff that is so bad for us? :clueless:
All my best,

I have tried sweetened soya milk and the normal one from Waitrose, but sorry I can’t get on with it. I have however cut down on milk and butter and that seems to be going fine. Does soya have the same amount of calcium as cows milk? We woman must look after our bones. :clueless:

This is a link to the Vegetarian Society, it has more information on there with regards to Soya:

I hope this helps?

Hi!
I looked on the soya carton I have here and it seems to have plenty of calcium in it.
Interesting thing about calcium - I got a leaflet about arthritis from the local health shop and that said too much calcium can cause it to be deposited around the joints and cause problems- can't remember exactly what it said though, I'll have to find it & read it again to be clear!

Everything should always be in moderation, though I would admit that I tend to over-satisfy my urges and craving for milk stuff, I'd say I have found an alternative in YUP! Sweetened soya milk, more healthy, a lot better to consume when cold, specially great since we are in a tropical country!...

Anyways milk is good but too much of it is bad

Have a nice day~!
